Caramel Macchiato Mug Cake
Coffeehouse flavor in minutes: a tender vanilla–coffee mug cake finished with a warm drizzle of caramel. Mix in the mug, microwave, and enjoy!
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour (¼ cup)
- 3 tbsp sugar
- ⅛ tsp baking powder
- Pinch fine salt
- 3 tbsp milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 2 tbsp strong brewed coffee (cooled)
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 tbsp caramel sauce, plus more to drizzle
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Mug size: Use a 12–14 oz microwave-safe mug to prevent overflow as the cake rises.
Step-by-Step
- Mix dry. In the mug, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Whisk wet. Stir in milk, coffee, oil, caramel sauce, and vanilla until smooth.
- Microwave. Cook on HIGH ~65 seconds (60–80 sec depending on wattage) until set at edges with a few moist spots on top.
- Finish. Rest 1–2 minutes; drizzle with extra caramel and serve warm.
Wattage guide: 1100–1200W: 55–70 sec · ~900W: 70–85 sec. Add 5–10 sec if the center still looks wet.
How to Serve
