Graveyard Shakes

Cookies-and-cream milkshakes buried under “Oreo dirt” with candy tombstones. Thick, creamy, and wickedly easy—five minutes to frightful delight.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cookies & cream ice cream
  • 1½ cups milk (whole for ultra-creamy; any works)
  • 8–10 Oreos, crushed, for “dirt”
  • Candy tombstones (or Milano cookies piped with “RIP” in chocolate)
  • Optional: whipped cream, chocolate syrup, candy bones or gummy worms

For extra-thick shakes, freeze the glasses 10 minutes before filling.

Directions

  1. Blend: Add the ice cream and milk to a blender; blend until smooth and thick. Adjust milk to reach your favorite thickness.
  2. Pour & top: Divide between 2 large or 3 small glasses. Spoon a generous layer of crushed Oreos on top for “freshly dug” dirt.
  3. Decorate: Insert candy tombstones. Finish with whipped cream, candy bones, or a few gummy worms crawling out.
  4. Serve: Best enjoyed immediately while frosty.

No blender? Let ice cream soften 5–10 minutes and mash with milk using a sturdy whisk.

Variations

  • Mint Cemetery: Use mint-chip ice cream; add a drop of peppermint extract.
  • Dirt & Worms: Add gummy worms and drizzle chocolate syrup.
  • Pumpkin Patch: Swirl in 2–3 tbsp pumpkin puree + pumpkin spice; top with orange sprinkles.
  • Dairy-Free: Oat or almond milk + dairy-free cookies-and-cream ice cream.
  • Adults-Only: Blend in 1–1½ oz Irish cream or coffee liqueur per serving.

Make-Ahead & Storage

  • Crush cookies and prep tombstones up to 2 days ahead.
  • Shakes don’t store well—blend right before serving for best texture.
  • For a thicker “soft-serve” vibe, freeze blended shakes 10–15 minutes, stir, then garnish.
