Dracula's Float

Dracula’s Float
A classic cherry soda float with a ghoulish twist—snowy vanilla scoops, dark chocolate “blood” drizzle, and dramatic ruby foam. Sweet, fizzy, and totally non-alcoholic for every age at your Halloween bash.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cherry soda, well chilled (black cherry if you can find it)
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream (about 4 small scoops)
- 2 Tbsp chocolate syrup (for “blood” drizzle)
- Optional: 1–2 Tbsp grenadine or cherry syrup for extra red “drips,” maraschino cherries, gummy fangs, or red sanding sugar for the rim
Dairy-free? Use a great plant-based vanilla (oat or coconut). Keep the soda icy cold for the tallest, frothiest floats.
Directions
- Prep glasses: Chill 2 tall glasses. For a spooky rim, dip in chocolate syrup then red sugar; chill 5 minutes to set.
- Scoop: Add 2 scoops ice cream to each glass.
- Pour: Tilt the glass and slowly pour chilled cherry soda over the scoops. Let the foam rise dramatically.
- Finish: Drizzle with chocolate syrup. For a deeper crimson effect, spoon a little grenadine down the inside of each glass so it streaks.
- Garnish & serve: Top with a cherry or gummy fangs and serve immediately with straws and spoons.
Party tip: Set out a “Float Bar” with different sodas, syrups, and toppings so guests can build their own vampires, witches, or mummies in a cup.
Variations
- Black Forest Float: Cola + cherry juice, topped with chocolate shavings.
- Van Helsing Vanilla: Cream soda + vanilla ice cream + red syrup swirl.
- Batwing Blackberry: Blackberry soda and a scoop of raspberry sorbet for a darker hue.
- Little Monsters: Serve minis in small glasses with paper bat wings taped to the sides.
Make-Ahead & Serving
- Keep sodas and glasses very cold; floats should be assembled right before serving.
- For big parties, pre-scoop ice cream on a parchment-lined tray and freeze. Drop scoops into glasses on demand.
- Non-alcoholic by design—great for kid parties or as a dessert drink after chili, pizza, or a spooky snack board.
