3 Unique Tea Recipes
Three easy herbal & spiced teas: soothing Lavender Chamomile, warming Spiced Orange Ginger, and refreshing Matcha Mint.
Lavender Chamomile Tea
Caffeine-free · Floral & calming
Ingredients
- 1 chamomile tea bag (or 1 Tbsp loose)
- 1/2–1 tsp culinary dried lavender
- 1 cup near-boiling water (~200°F)
- Honey or lemon, to taste (optional)
Directions
- Pour hot water over chamomile and lavender.
- Steep 4–5 minutes; strain/ remove bag. Sweeten lightly if you like.
Tip: Too much lavender can taste soapy—start with 1/2 tsp and adjust.
Iced: Steep double strength, pour over ice.
Spiced Orange Ginger Tea
Black tea · Warming & citrusy
Ingredients
- 1 black tea bag
- 2 thin orange slices (avoid too much pith)
- 3–4 fresh ginger slices
- 1 tsp honey (optional)
- 1 cup boiling water (212°F)
Directions
- Pour boiling water over tea, orange, and ginger.
- Steep 4–5 minutes; remove tea bag to prevent bitterness.
- Stir in honey to taste.
Variation: Add 1 clove or a 2" cinnamon stick for extra spice.
Iced: Chill and serve over ice with a fresh orange wheel.
Matcha Mint Tea
Green tea · Fresh & invigorating
Ingredients
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 1 cup hot water (~175°F)
- 1 Tbsp fresh mint leaves, lightly bruised
- 2 tsp honey (optional)
Directions
- In a cup, whisk matcha with a splash of hot water to a smooth paste.
- Add remaining water and honey; stir.
- Add mint leaves and steep 1–2 minutes; sip or strain.
Latte style: Replace half the water with warm milk (oat is lovely).
Iced: Shake with ice; strain over fresh ice and mint.
Make a Pitcher (4 servings)
- Lavender Chamomile: 4 chamomile bags + 2–3 tsp culinary lavender + 4 cups hot water. Steep 5 min, strain.
- Spiced Orange Ginger: 4 black tea bags + 8 orange slices + 12 ginger slices + 4 cups boiling water. Steep 5 min; sweeten to taste.
- Matcha Mint: 4 tsp matcha whisked with 4 cups 175°F water; add 4 Tbsp mint and honey to taste. Steep 2 min; strain.
Serve hot, or chill for iced teas. Refrigerate up to 3 days.
